AI-BOND third cohort application closing soon. September 30th 2025

The training is free, the application is free and the deadline is September 30th, 2025

Apply here: https://aibond.org/apply-here/

The purpose is to strenghtening africa’s scientific  workforce through advanced training in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, and multi-omics for neurodegenerative Research.

The training covers areas sush as:

Biostatistics:

That is the application of statistical methods to the collection, analysis, and interpretation of biological or health data, with particular emphasis on medical and public health applications.

Bioinformatics

that is an interdisciplinary field that uses computational tools, software, algorithms, and statistical methods to collect, store, analyze, and interpret vast amounts of biological data, particularly genomic and protein information.

Python, R, SAS

There are dominant languages and platforms for data analysis, each with its strengths and target audience:

Python is versatile, open-source, and excellent for machine learning and general development.

R specializes in statistics and visualization, favored by academics.

SAS is a proprietary, paid solution, targeted at statistical analysis and business intelligence for large enterprises, often easier for non-developers.

Genetic Epidemiology

That is a multidisciplinary field that investigates how genetic factors influence health and disease within populations by combining principles of genetics and epidemiology.

Genomics

Study of an organism’s entire set of DNA, known as the genome, to understand how genes work, interact with each other and the environment, and contribute to traits and diseasesthe study of an organism’s entire set of DNA, known as the genome, to understand how genes work, interact with each other and the environment, and contribute to traits and diseases.

Epigenomics

That is the study of an epigenome, which is the collection of all the epigenetic changes in a cell, such as DNA methylation and histone modifications.

Metabolomics

That is the scientific study and comprehensive analysis of all the small-molecule metabolites (substrates, intermediates, and products of metabolism) in a given biological cell, tissue, or organism at a specific moment.

Microbiome

that is the community of microorganisms (such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, and other single-celled organisms) and their genetic material (the metagenome) that live in a particular environment, most commonly the human body.

Neurodegenerative Diseases

Thaht is a progressive disorder where nerve cells (neurons) in the brain and spinal cord become damaged or die, leading to loss of function and worsening symptoms over time.

Grant writing

thaht is the practice of completing an application process for a financial grant, which are often provided by governments, corporations, foundations, and trusts.

Registration for the AAIC Neuroscience 2025

Dear AI-BOND Community,

Following our previous announcement, we would like to confirm that registration for the AAIC Neuroscience Next 2025 is now open (for 30 days only!).

Please use the following link to register:

Africa will host two hybrid (in-person and virtual) hubs in Cameroon (Yaoundé) and Nigeria (Ibadan), as well as an in-person hub in Kenya (Nairobi).

We highly encourage you to submit abstracts for podium presentations or posters. A few travel fellowships might be available for selected abstracts.

For those working on their AI-BOND projects, please consult with your AI-BOND faculty mentors to finalize your abstracts for the conference.

Ideally, every AI-BOND trainee should be able to submit an abstract. Let’s make this happen.

We also encourage you to become an ISTAART member. It is free for students and individuals in Low-and Middle-income countries.
